We’ve always reviled the cuckoo bird,
She’s lazy and shiftless,so we’ve heard.
Building her own nest is the kind of work
She prefers to delegate, prefers to shirk!
We are humans,we build our own homes,
No matter if in territory where another beast roams.
We believe we’re evolution’s end, So refined,distilled,
We own the earth’s resources and can use them as we will!
No animal’s home on land is sacred, no fishes’ territory —
If I decide I want it, then it belongs to me!
My children, too, have developed an enormous appetite
Wanting to own, to control, whatever they sight.
Sure, they can trample over other species, and develop and thrive,
But in a war amongst themselves? How many would be left alive?!
