Beliefs

As a child I believed in a hard blue sky,

But not in a “blanket” of air;

As a child I believed in “wrong” and “right”

And most things were truly “black” or “white”.

Later I learned how we’d all evolved from the common clay

And how our beliefs arose from our needs and persisted to this day.

Without beliefs- I’m vertiginous, I need my sky- up there!

But humanity is what we all breathe- the sustaining atmosphere!
