The zebra takes enormous pride in his striped and glossy hide:
For unique as a fingerprint is the pattern on his skin!
And each of them likes to gloat over his short mane and fancy coat-
Each says “Its exclusively mine– this symmetrical design.”
He thinks it a pity and shame that all men look exactly the same!
He really cannot tell one from the other:
Except for their clothes, they could all be brothers.
He is amazed that they wage wars and are vain
Over the colour of their skins — so pathetically plain!
